Beach Volleyball Set for Four Matches in Miami

SPRINGFIELD – After a solid start to the 2020 season in Arizona, Missouri State's beach volleyball team heads to Miami for four matches at the FIU Beach Bash on Friday and Saturday.

Year 2 Recap
Missouri State had a winning record in its second season of competition, finishing 13-11 overall in 2019. The Bears owned a .538 pairs winning percentage on the year that included victories in flights 3-5 at better than a 63 percent clip.
 
MSU Notables
Missouri State is 2-2 on the year with wins over Boise State and San Francisco and two close losses to 15th-ranked Arizona…MSU's Kelsey Larsen ranks fifth in school history with 15 career wins, while Kylee Davis sits one victory behind…Larsen teamed with Alaina Tinsley to go 4-0 on the opening weekend as MSU's No. 1 pair, tying the longest win streak for any No. 1 pair in school history…In all, 10 Bears have at least one victory on the season...MSU has 29 scheduled matches this year, beginning with 18 away from home before hosting the Bear Claw Classic March 27 and 28 at the Betty & Bobby Allison Sand Volleyball Courts.

The Opponents
Florida Memorial is an NAIA school located in Miami Gardens, Fla. The Lions are 1-1 with a win over Ave Maria and loss to Southeastern.
    Tampa is 2-2 with wins over Louisiana Monroe and Houston Baptist and losses to a pair of top-10 teams.
    New Orleans is 2-0 on the year with a pair of 3-2 wins against Southern Miss.
    Florida International is 3-1 and ranked 14th in the AVCA Coaches Poll. The Panthers and Bears are both members of the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association.
 
Series Histories
Missouri State is 1-0 all-time against New Orleans, winning 3-2 on April 5, 2019 in Monroe, La. The three Florida schools are first-time opponents for the Bears.

Bears Join CCSA
Missouri State officially joined the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association on Dec. 13, 2019. The Bears will vie for a title in the 14-team league at the CCSA Tournament on April 17 and 18.
