Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29 from Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium. MSU men's basketball will be doing a meet and greet along with pizza and games for fans to enjoy during pregame. Head Coach Jon Leamy
- As the winningest coach in program history, head coach, Jon Leamy, returns for his 28th season at the helm with an overall record of 262-184-65.
- Leamy has compiled seven regular-season MVC championships to go along with his seven MVC Tournament finals appearances and an MVC Tournament championship.
- Currently, Leamy ranks in the top-30 in all-time wins (262) among active Division I coaches.
- On September 30, 2017, Leamy recorded his 250th victory versus Valparaiso with a 1-0 shutout at Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium.
- The five-time MVC Coach of the Year and three-time Midwest Region Coach of the Year has produced 143 all-conference and 76 MVC Scholar-Athlete selections.
Series History
MSU leads the all-time series 21-4-2 that includes a 3-1 win in last year's season opener. The Bears are 13-1-1 all-time at home against the Roos and have won the last four matches in the series.
