PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Missouri State track and field team bound forward during day of one of the 4
th annual Gorilla Classic, held on the campus of Pittsburg State Friday.
The Bears take home three of the top seven spots in the long jump.
Jamilah James advanced her season best with a 5.87m leap, coming in second.
Olivia Ott also shattered her career best with a 5.78m jump, seizing fourth place, while
Sidne' Williamson took down seventh place after a 5.65m flight.
Qualifying for tomorrow's 60-meter hurdle prelims is Ott, who met the requirements for sixth place on a season best 9.03.
Timeka Jordan and
Tomi Bamigbade produced spots in the 60-meter dash prelim heats on Saturday. Jordan captured the top spot in the qualifying round with a 7.69, while Bamigbade earned seventh with a 7.77 pace.
Paityn Howat,
Madeline Saville,
Edna Dar and
Erica Wollmering teamed up for a season record distance medley relay time of 12:01.57, finishing in third place.
Jordyn Capra represented the Bears in the 5,000-meter, finishing in 16
th place with an 18:11.82 time.
Day two of the Gorilla Classic with start of the Bears at 11:05 a.m. with the 3,000-meter run, while field events will begin at 3 p.m. with the shot put and triple jump.
