Missouri State Quick Kicks:
  • MSU rode an early goal from Kayleigh Putnam and a dominant defensive performance to a 1-0 blanking of Evansville in the Missouri Valley Conference quarterfinals to secure a spot in Friday's semifinal round.
  • The Bears hold the home advantage for the MVC Women's Soccer Championship as Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium is the host site for the 2019 tournament. MSU has been hot on its home field this season, posting a 6-2-1 record.
  • Putnam's goal against Evansville bumped the total number of MSU goal scorers to nine, with six of them finding the net multiple times in 2019.
  • Jordan Eickelman and Kennady Orlick have four goals apiece to lead the Bears' scoring efforts, with Eickelman sharing the team-lead in points with Ashley Coonfield.
  • MSU's defense has been on display in the past two matches, headlined by Kaitlin Maxwell who has hauled in 10 saves at Indiana State and sealed her sixth shutout against Evansville. Maxwell leads the Valley in goals-against-average (.801), allowing a league-low 14 goals, and ranks among the top three in saves, shutouts, and saves per game.
  • This marks MSU's 22nd appearance in the MVC tournament with championship titles in 2000 and 2017. The Bears tout a 15-16-6 record in tournament play.

Scouting Illinois State:
  • Kate Del Fava has been named the Offensive POTW on five occasions this season, setting a new MVC record for the number of times a student-athlete has received the Offensive Player of the Week honor in a single season. Former Redbird Rachel Tejada had previously earned the honor four times in a season in three separate years (2012, 2013, 2014).
  • Tallying 10 shutouts in the regular season, the Redbirds are only one shutout away from tying the program single-season record of 11 shutouts set back in 2000. Haley Smith is also only one shutout away from tying the goalkeeper record of 10 shutouts, set by Allison Farrington in 2003.
  • The Redbirds picked up their fifth straight shutout in Oct. 16's match at Indiana State. The five consecutive shutouts is a program-record, the most in a row in school history.

Series History:
  • Illinois State owns the 19-8-9 series edge against the Bears.
  • This is both clubs' second meeting in two weeks, with a second-half offensive surge from the Redbirds downing MSU 1-0 to secure the No. 2 Valley ranking.
