Valley Release
ST. LOUIS – Missouri State men's soccer redshirt junior
Kyle Hiebert is highlighted in this week's Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Spotlight, announced by Commissioner Doug Elgin today.
Hiebert, who completed his undergraduate degree in May with a 4.0 GPA, is currently pursuing a master's degree in Accounting. The two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-American Third Team in 2018 and MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team in 2018 and 2017.
Serving as the captain for the Bears the past two seasons, Hiebert has made 49 consecutive starts, anchoring an MSU backline that stands among the best in the nation in 2019. The Bears rank seventh nationally with a 0.586 goals against average and have allowed just nine goals this season which is the sixth fewest in Division I.
For his performance on the pitch, Hiebert was selected to the MVC All-Conference Second Team in 2018 as well as receiving United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors in back-to-back seasons during his freshman and sophomore campaigns.
To qualify for the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Spotlight, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing. Redshirt freshmen and first-year junior college transfers are not eligible. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes are evaluated on their campus involvement and community service.
Hiebert and the No.10-ranked Bears set out to cap a perfect regular-season record at Drake on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 1:00 p.m.
