Bears Continue MVC Home Stretch against Drake

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State women's soccer team continues Missouri Valley Conference action, welcoming Drake to Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m.

Missouri State Quick Kicks:
  • MSU opened MVC play on a high note, scoring two unanswered goals in the second half to claim the 2-1 comeback win over Valparaiso.
  • Jordan Eickelman provided the much-needed offensive spark for MSU in the second, outrunning two Crusader defenders and sinking a shot in the back of the net in the 68th minute.
  • A corner kick from Ashley Coonfield in the final 10 minutes set up the decisive go-ahead header from Brittney Robinson at the 84th minute. The goal is Robinson's second of her senior campaign, both of which were game-winners. 
  • The Bears finished non-conference play with a Valley-best 6-2-1 mark. Through the first week of league play, MSU, Illinois State, and Loyola boast 1-0 records.
  • Kaitlin Maxwell's four shutouts is tied for second-best in the Valley heading into the heart of MVC play.
Scouting Drake:
  • Drake suffered its first setback of conference play last weekend, falling 3-0 to Loyola.
  • Six different Bulldogs have scored in 2019, three of those counting as game-winners.
  • Junior goalkeeper Kelsie Stone earned MVC defensive player of the week honors on Sept. 23 after notching eight saves and completing a shutout over Western Illinois.
Series History:
  • Drake leads the series 12-3-4, however the Bears hold the 3-2-3 home advantage.
