Bears Ready for Home Finale against Illinois State

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State women's soccer team plans to honor seven seniors in its home regular-season finale against Illinois State at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium on Friday, Oct. 25 at 5 p.m.

Missouri State Quick Kicks:
  • MSU holds the third-place spot in the Valley standings, improving to a 3-1-1 mark after tying Evansville, 1-1, in the midweek road tilt and downing UNI, 2-1, in the weekend match.
  • Kennady Orlick produced two of the Bears' three goals on the week, boosting her into MSU's leading scorer position with a team-best four goals.
  • Six different Bears have found the net multiple times in 2019, combining for 17 of MSU's 20 total goals.
  • Ashley Coonfield rounded out the Bears' offense, providing an insurance goal off a long ball to pad MSU's 2-1 win at home against UNI.
  • The Bears have continued to dominate at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium, sporting a 5-1-1 record on their home field. They have handily outscored the visiting club 11-4.
  • Defense has kept the Bears' opponents in check, holding them to a league-low 12 goals. Kaitlin Maxwell pads her impressive resume, leading the Valley in goals against average (.829) and ranking nationally in her save percentage (.813).
Scouting Illinois State:
  • Illinois State dropped a 4-1 match to MVC opponent Loyola Chicago at home, putting an end to the program record-tying nine-match winning streak on Sunday afternoon. 
  • The Redbirds hold the second-place spot in the Valley standings. A win Friday night could help the Bears jump Illinois State for the No. 2 spot as we head into the MVC Tournament.
  • Kate Del Fava has been an offensive powerhouse for the Redbirds, scoring 13 goals and tallying four assists. She leads the league in several statistical categories including goals (13), game-winning goals (4), points (30), and shots-on-goal (29).
Series History:
  • Illinois State owns the all-time series against the Bears, 18-8-9. The Redbirds emerged victorious in both squads' meetings in the 2018 season.
