SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State swimming and diving enters its third consecutive weekend of competition with a stop in Terre Haute, Ind. for the two-day Indiana State Invitational taking place Oct. 19-20.

Bear Bites:
- Both MSU squads handily defeated South Dakota at the Kansas Double Dual last weekend, with the men delivering a 218-129 decision while the women cruised to a 243-108 margin. Host Kansas split the women's results, serving them a 244-101 loss in the double dual.
- Michael Hampel earned Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week honors after turning in three individual wins in the 100 breaststroke, 200 IM, and 200 breaststroke events. He also contributed to the Bears' first-place finish in the 200 medley.
- Freshman Samantha Hietpas made a splash in the Kansas Double Dual's opening long-distance event, beating out Kansas by nearly three seconds in the 1000 freestyle. The win signaled the first in her collegiate career.
- Michael Claunch swept the diving events against South Dakota, posting first-place efforts in both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.
- Missouri State's women and men's swimming and diving each claimed a second-place team finish among 11 in-state schools at the Show-Me Showdown, amassing 387.5 and 413 points, respectively.
- Reigning freshman of the year pair Pawel Krawczyk and Alex Thorson produced stellar performances in the 500 freestyle, with Krawczyk placing third (4:35.57) and Thorson taking fourth (5:05.54) in the long-distance event. The duo each tacked on an additional top-10 finish in the 200 freestyle.
