KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Missouri State men's soccer team started the 2018 season off strong with solid offensive production, claiming the 3-1 victory over the University of Missouri Kansas City in the season opener Friday night at Durwood Soccer Stadium.

With 10 minutes left in the first half Dylan De Jong broke away from defenders to score his first career goal and the first point for the Bears this season. De Jong's goal was assisted by Aadne Gikling Bruseth and Greg Stratton from a pass down the middle.

The following 50 minutes saw shots on goal for the Bears with none paying off, until Josh Dolling and Jake Buckle scored twice in two minutes to seal the deal for the Bears.

Dolling's goal came up the middle of the field to find the back of the net in the 83rd minute, off a pass from Conor Ingram.

In the 85th minute Buckle tacked on the final touch of the match, following up his own shot attempt to find goal.

UMKC's Diego Serfaty recorded the lone goal for the Roos in the 84th minute. UMKC attempted eight shots with four aimed at goal.

The Bears goalie Michael Creek, in his first career start, recorded three saves. MSU's offence marked 13 shots with eight on goal.
