Cave, Williamson and James Qualify for NCAA West Prelims

INDIAPOLIS, Ind. – Three Missouri State student-athletes qualify in four individual events at the 2018 NCAA Track and Field Outdoor West Preliminary May 24-26 in Sacramento, Calf., announced by the NCAA Thursday (May 17).

Junior Asha Cave qualifies in the 100 and 200-meter dash. Cave set both of her qualifying times last weekend at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship, she came away with All-MVC honors in the 100m (11.55) and a new PR in the 200m (23.37).

Sidne' Williamson qualifies for the Bears in the long jump. Williamson has improved her personal best jump by almost a full meter. The junior set her qualifying distance at the Memphis Tiger Invite (4/27-28).

Coming off of freshman of the year honors at the MVC Championship Jamilah James qualifies for nationals in the triple jump. The Ontario, Canada native qualifies with a mark of 12.56, which she set at the Memphis Tiger Invite.

The 48-west preliminary site competitors will be cut down to the top-12 athletes from each individual event, which will advance to the NCAA Championship in Eugene, Ore., on June 6-9.
