DES MOINES, Iowa – Five Missouri State distance runners made strides during the first day of the 109
th Drake Relays at the Jim Ducan Track. Â

Recording a 5,000-meter personal record time,
Jessica Allen logged a fifth place finish against the solid field of competitors in the seeded event. Allen's 16:38.55 race was good enough for a program top-five time, second best in the Missouri Valley Conference this season and 59
th on the west region qualifying list.

Grace Breiten and
Jordyn Capra represented the Bears in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Breiten (10:54.30) and Capra (10:57.80) took sixth and seventh place respectively, both earning personal bests. Â

Erica Wollmering ran the 1500m in 4:38.41 seconds, finishing in ninth place with a new PR, while
Paityn Howat came in 15
th place with a time of 4:42.70.

MSU will split squad to the Memphis Tiger Invite and the Drake Relays. Action in Des Moines, Iowa will continue at 10:42 a.m. with the 4x1600m relay, while the meet in Memphis, Tenn. is set to start at 2 p.m. with the long jump.
