
Bears Split Squad to Drake Relays, Memphis Tiger Invite

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State track and field team head into the final regular season tune up, the Bears will split squad as they travel to the Drake Relays and the Memphis Tiger Invite this weekend. Events at the Drake Relays will begin around 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, while action in Memphis will kick off at 3 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday. Â

Keeping Track of the Bears
- Asha Cave claimed two individual event titles and a relay crown at the Tom Botts Invitational this weekend. Cave's 200-meter time of 23.63 leads the Missouri Valley and sits as 45th best in the West Region.
- Cave also ran the second leg of the Bears first place 4x100-meter relay, which recorded a season best time of 45.71. The team's time sits as second fastest in the conference this season.Â
- Sidne' Williamson finished in first place in the long jump, recording a jump of 5.97 meters last weekend at the Tom Botts Invitational. Her jump was good enough the best mark in the Missouri Valley Conference and 55th in the West Region.
- Georgia Richardson broke her own pole vault school record, after clearing the 3.71-meter height, good enough for first place in the event.
- Half an hour after running the 1,500-meter, senior Jessica Allen pulled off a first place finish in the 5,000m, Allen's 17:19.53 race was five second faster than the next runner.
- Rochelle Etienne recorded a 43.97-meter javelin throw that ranks in the top-five all-time in MSU school history. The freshman earned the event title on her third attempt of the meet and marks the top javelin distance in the MVC this season.
- MSU is ranked 21st in the USFCCCA Midwest Region, third best Missouri Valley team in the region. Â
- Missouri State holds 14 top-five spots in the Missouri Valley, two weeks before the conference championship.
- Director of track and field and cross country, Ronald Boyce, is in his 22nd season at the helm at Missouri State.
