Day One at Tom Botts Invitational Sees Three Event Titles

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Missouri State track and field team takes home three event titles during day one of the Tom Botts Invitational, hosted by the University of Missouri.  
 
Rochelle Etienne records a 43.97-meter javelin throw that ranks in the top-five all time in school history. The freshman earns the event title on her third attempt of the meet and marks the top javelin distance in the Missouri Valley Conference this season.
 
The Bears captured the top four spots in the long jump Friday night. Sidne' Williamson paved the way with a first place jump of 5.97-meters, currently the longest in the MVC. Daijha Heron (5.82m), Isa Videler (5.77m) and Jamilah James (5.73m) follow with second through fourth respectively.
 
Half an hour after running the 1,500-meter, senior Jessica Allen pulls off a first place finish in the 5,000m, Allen's 17:19.53 race was five seconds faster than the next runner. In the 1,500m Allen finished in fifth pace with a 4:36.11 time.
 
Missouri State will continue with day two of the Tom Botts Invitational tomorrow at 11:30 a.m., with the pole vault.
