Track & Field Bears Take Next Step in Outdoor Season

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State track and field team will take its next step in the outdoor season when they travel to the ORU Invitational (March 31) hosted by Oral Roberts. The meet, held in Tulsa, Okla., will start at 8 a.m. on Saturday, with running starting at noon.

Keeping Track of the Bears
- Missouri State will compete at the ORU Invitational sending a total of 29 student-athletes competing in a projected 16 events.
- The Bears will be opposing Kansas, Oklahoma State, South Dakota, South Dakota State, Tulsa and UMKC.
- Jordyn Capra was honored as the Missouri Valley Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week. Capra opened up the outdoor season with a conference leading 3,000-meter steeple chase time (11:19.48) and holds the 24th fastest on the west qualifying list and 44th in the nation.
- Capra also holds the fourth fastest 5,000-meter time (17:50.95) in the conference and 40th in the west region. Her 5K time was good enough for sixth place at the Bulldog Relay and a new personal best.
- Last weekend the Bears competed at the Bulldog Relays where they saw 16 top five MVC times including league leading performances by Divina Henry in the 200-meter (24.83), Jordyn Capra in the 3K steeple chase (11:19.48) and Jamilah James in triple jump (12.25m).
- In her first meet of the year, Marissa Kurtimah captured the 100-meter dash title, marking an 11.93 time.
- Director of track and field and cross country, Ronald Boyce, is in his 22nd season at the helm at Missouri State.
