SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State track and field team opens up the 2018 outdoor season with a trip to the Bulldog Relays this weekend (March 23-24) hosted by Mississippi State. The meet, held in Starkville, Miss., will start at 11 a.m. both Friday and Saturday, with running starting at 3 p.m. and noon respectively.

Keeping Track of the Bears
- For the second consecutive year Missouri State will compete at the Bulldog Relays. The Bears will be opposing teams such as Arkansas State, Memphis, Mississippi Valley State and Southeast Missouri State.
- MSU returns two of the four All-Missouri Valley Conference honorees from a season ago. Marissa Kurtimah who is tabbed to run the 100-meter dash, while Jessica Allen is set to compete in the 5,000-meter.
- Last season at the Bulldog Relays Kurtimah took first place in the 100-meter dash (11.72), while on the field side Georgia Richardson took second in pole vault (3.55m).
- A total of 34 student-athletes are projected to compete in 22 events. Highlighted by MVC Indoor Track & Field Freshman of the Year Jamilah James, who is entered into the triple jump, long jump and sprint medley relay this weekend.
- Coming off of a MVC indoor title in the triple jump (12.68m), senior Daijha Heron will be competing in the long jump and the triple jump this weekend.
- The Bears finished in fifth place in the MVC Indoor Championship last month. Capping off a successful indoor season that saw 66 top-five finishes and 13 individual first place victories.
- Director of track and field and cross country, Ronald Boyce, is in his 22nd season at the helm at Missouri State.
