KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Three Missouri State men's soccer players earn 2018 All-West Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches, as announced by the association on Wednesday (Dec. 5).
Josh Dolling and
Ben Stroud were named to the All-West Region second team, while
Kyle Hiebert earns third team honors.
With a breakout sophomore season, Dolling paced the Bears and the MVC offensively, starting in all but one game this season. Dolling recorded 10 goals off of 46 shots and added three assist. The Liverpool, United Kingdom native recorded the first Missouri State hat trick in 13 years against Santa Clara (Sept. 11), capping off the match with the game winner at the 102-minute of double overtime. Dolling adds five game winners this season, sitting second in school history for a single season, while also recording goals in five straight matches between Aug. 31 and Sept. 22.
Stroud adds All-Region honors to his growing list of accolades, being a major contributor to the Bears top-notch defense. Stroud played in 16 games, starting in 15 this season for the Bears. The New Zealand defender has been a brick wall in the back line, helping the Bears to a .435 shot-on-goal percentage this season, while also adding one goal and one assist.
Hiebert, a two time All-West region honoree, led the Bears to another impressive defensive season. The anchor of the Bears strong defensive line has started in all 17 matches for Missouri State, playing in all but 45 of the available minutes. The La Salle, Manitoba, Canada native has been key in the Bears' defense, recording a .70 goals-against-average, which is the 16th lowest GAA in the nation. The team captain also added an assist and 12 shot attempts.
