ST. LOUIS – Senior forward
Brooke Prondzinski and sophomore goalkeeper
Kaitlin Maxwell both earned spots on the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Soccer Scholar-Athlete list, as announced by the league Tuesday.
Â
Maxwell, who carries a 3.98 GPA in finance, was selected to the MVC Scholar-Athlete first team after a phenomenal sophomore campaign that included MVC Goalkeeper of the Year and All-MVC first team accolades.
Â
The Lincoln, Neb. native totaled 114 saves during the season, ranking her second in the conference and is currently fifth nationally. Her single season save efforts tie for fourth best in program history alongside Jackie Jasper in 2006. She tallied six shutouts and logged double-digit saves four times, and earned MVC defensive player of the week honors on Oct. 1 after collecting 10 grabs and shutting-out Northern Iowa.
Â
A two time MVC Scholar-Athlete honoree, Prondzinski is a cell and molecular biology major with a 3.70 GPA. The Olathe, Kan. native netted the game-winner in a 1-0 shutout against conference foe Evansville, and tallied an assist earlier in the season at Oral Roberts.
Â
Prondzinski made the MVC Scholar-Athlete first team in 2017 after finishing as Missouri State's leading scorer with six goals a year ago.
Â
Coach
Rob Brewer's Bears finished the season 8-9-2, going 2-3-2 in league play before falling to Illinois State in the MVC Tournament quarterfinals.
