Soccer Bears Begin Postseason Play at Illinois State

SPRINGFIELD – Fifth-seeded Missouri State women's soccer team (8-8-2, 2-3-2 MVC) will travel to Normal, Ill. to face No. 4 Illinois State in the opening round of the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Soccer Championships on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m.

Missouri State Quick Kicks
  • Missouri State received the No. 5 seed after falling to Drake, 1-0, in its regular season finale Thursday afternoon. Illinois State lost to UNI, 3-1, to finish as the No. 4 seed.
  • Goalkeeper Kaitlin Maxwell showed her off her flexibility, making six crucial saves in the match against the Bulldogs. A grab at the 40-minute mark signaled her 100th of the season. She is now two saves away from cracking the program's top five in single season saves.
  • In their last meeting, the Bears fell to Illinois State by a 2-1 margin. Jordan Eickelman scored Missouri State's lone goal and Maxwell had 10 saves in the conference opener.
  • Two time All-MVC honoree Brooke Prondzinski scored her first goal of the season against Evansville. The score counted as the game winner, lifting the Bears to a 1-0 win.
  • Newcomer Kennady Orlick continues to lead the MVC in game-winning goals with four on the season. Her total ranks 31st nationally in the same category.
  • Four Bears have earned Missouri Valley Conference weekly honors so far this season –Jordan Eickelman, Anna Durnin, Maxwell, and Orlick.
Scouting Illinois State
  • The Redbirds dropped their league finale contest against Northern Iowa, 3-1, to finish No. 4 in the MVC standings.
  • Illinois State ended the regular season with a 4-3 league and 9-8-2 overall record.
  • Six different Redbirds have scored three or more goals this season, with Kate Del Fava leading the charge with five.

  • The Redbirds holds both the series and home advantage, with Missouri State trailing 17-8-9 overall and 1-9-5 at Adelaide Field.
