Women’s Soccer Heads to Drake for Regular Season Finale

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State women's soccer team (8-7-2, 2-2-2 MVC) will compete in its remaining contest of the regular season in Des Moines, Iowa against Drake on Thursday, Oct. 25 beginning at 4 p.m.

Missouri State Quick Kicks
  • Missouri State has cemented a spot in the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Soccer Championships. Currently ranked fifth in the standings, the Bears face Drake in their last regular season match. Final rankings will be known Thursday night.
  • The Bears put up a defensive battle against conference leader Loyola, holding them scoreless in regulation, but fell in overtime as the Ramblers came away with the 1-0 win off a golden goal.
  • Goalkeeper Kaitlin Maxwell is on pace to tally 100 saves this season. The Lincoln, Neb. native is currently sitting at 96 heading into tomorrow's contest, and is eight away from cracking the top five in single-season saves.
  • Two time All-MVC honoree Brooke Prondzinski scored her first goal of the season against Evansville. The score counted as the game winner, lifting the Bears to a 1-0 win.
  • Newcomer Kennady Orlick continues to lead the MVC in game-winning goals with four on the season. Her total ranks 31st nationally in the same category.
  • Four Bears have earned Missouri Valley Conference weekly honors so far this season –Jordan Eickelman, Anna Durnin, Maxwell, and Orlick.
Scouting Drake
  • Libby Helverson collected MVC newcomer of the week honors after scoring the golden goal in Drake's 3-2 win over Indiana State on Sunday. It was her first career goal.
  • Drake currently is second in the MVC standings sporting a 4-1-1 conference record.
  • The Bulldogs notched back-to-back conference wins against Northern Iowa and Indiana State. In the 2-1 win over UNI, Drake rallied from a 1-0 deficit, with Alyssa Brand scoring the go-ahead goal. Four days later against Indiana State, the Bulldogs scored two goals in the final 13 minutes to force overtime, where Helverson scored the game winner.

  • The Bulldogs hold the series edge against Missouri State by a margin of 3-11-4.
  • In their last meeting, Missouri State snapped the Bulldogs eight-game winning streak, forcing a 0-0 tie.
  • The last time the Bears beat Drake was at home in 2011.
