Day three of the Jackrabbit was highlighted by Seniors
Brad Carpenter and
Adam Fisher as the only Missouri State golfers to break into the top 20. Carpenter's tie for seventh was only nine strokes behind Kansas' first place golfer, Harry Hiller. Shooting 71-72-71--214 and pacing the Bears through all three rounds, Carpenter carded his best finish of the season. Fisher finished four strokes behind, tied for 16th off three birdies on the front nine. Fisher carded 72-75-72--219 while moving up 7 places in the standings.
The remainder of the men's golf lineup struggled early on the course with
Jack Knoesel,
Kory Franks, and
Carter Lee all double bogeyed on the first hole. Knoesel finished tied for 44th after shooting 73-78-79-230 with Franks hot on his trail carding 82-74-75--231. Lee rounded out the Bear's lineup with 77-72-83--232 while Chris Obert shot 84-74-79-237 competing as an individual.
In the team standings, Kansas overtook UCF for first place in the final round to win with 845. Central Florida carded 856 and UMKC tied with Idaho for third shooting 874 apiece. Missouri (878), Missouri State (883), and South Dakota State (886) stayed in that order all three days and went five, six, seven to finish the round. SIU Edwardsville (888) followed close behind and Wichita State tied with Indian Hills CC to round out the top 10 shooting 894. Hutchinson CC (912), Omaha (917), and North Dakota (943) rounded out the 13-team field.
The Bears wrap up the Fall schedule in three weeks at the Little Rock / First Tee Classic in Little Rock, Ark. from October 22-23.
