SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State men's soccer team (7-1-4, 2-1-1 MVC) looks to bounce back after its first loss of the season, with a home match against Gonzaga on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.
Know the Bears
- The Bears have officially earned a spot in the 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament which will be held November 7, 9 and 11 at Evansville.
- Missouri State dropped its first match of the season Saturday night on the road, as the Bears undefeated season and third longest unbeaten streak in the nation came to an end in a 1-0 loss to Loyola.
- The Bears offense has outscored its opponents early and often this season. Holding a 10-1 advantage in goals scored in the first half. The only goal the Bears have allowed in the first half came in the first minute of a 4-1 win over UMKC in Springfield on Sept. 15.
- MSU has scored 18 goals this season, already beating the goal total from a season ago. Nine different athletes have scored goals for the Bears this season led by Josh Dolling with eight.
- The Bears still lead the conference in goals-against-average and rank in the top 10 in the country, allowing only eight goals through 12 games a .67 GAA.
- Goalkeeper Michael Creek is second in the conference in shutouts per game (.416), save percentage (.818) and goals-against-average (.623).
- Missouri State continues to receive votes in the College Soccer News Top 30 poll and ranks fifth in the United Soccer Coaches West Region.
- The latest NCAA RPI report for the 2018 season has the Bears listed at No. 67.

Gonzaga Bulldogs
- Freshman Demetrius Kigeya leads the way for the Bulldogs with eight points on a team high four goals.
- Gonzaga's goalkeeper Ben Willis leads the conference in saves per game at 4.50 per contents.

Missouri State holds a 2-0 overall record against Gonzaga. The two squads' last meet on Sept. 24, 1999, where the Bears took the 3-2 win against the No. 23 ranked Bulldogs. Last time the Bulldogs visited Springfield was Sept. 25, 1993, the Bears came away with a 3-0 victory.
