Soccer Bears Square Off Against Evansville and Loyola

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State women's soccer team (7-6-2, 1-1-2 MVC) will host its remaining two home matches against conference rivals Evansville and Loyola at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 17 and Sunday, Oct. 21, with start times of 6 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.

Missouri State Quick Kicks
  • Sunday's contest will honor seniors Karen Kozol, Kassie Flynn, Masen Stamp, and Brooke Prondzinski as they play in their last regular season home game at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium.
  • The Bears' match against Valparaiso last Saturday ended in a 1-1 tie, marking Missouri State's second draw of the season. The last time Missouri State had back-to-back ties was during the 2013 season against Evansville and Drake.
  • Jordan Eickelman scored the Bears' only goal against Valparaiso, marking her fourth score of the season and tying her alongside teammate Kennady Orlick as leading scorer.
  • Four Bears have earned Missouri Valley Conference weekly honors so far this season – Jordan Eickelman, Anna Durnin, Kaitlin Maxwell, and Kennady Orlick.
  • Missouri State currently ranks sixth in overall conference standings with a 1-1-2 record. After these two tilts versus Evansville and Loyola, the Bears will have one MVC match remaining at Drake.
  • Orlick's four game-winning goals leads the MVC. She also ranks 15th nationally in the same category.
  • Coming into this weekend's match, Maxwell has 85 saves, averaging a conference best 6.07 per game. She is tied with Indiana State's Hannah Sullivan and Northern Iowa's Jami Reichenberger in shutouts with five.
  • Maxwell is among the best in the country in total saves, sitting at seventh.
  • Four different players – Eickelman, Orlick, Emma Skornia, and Olina Einarsdottir – have scored multiple goals this year.
Scouting Evansville
  • Five different Evansville players have scored a pair of goals, accounting for 10 of the 11 scored this season.
  • Evansville is ranked third in the MVC with a 4-8-2 conference record.
Scouting Loyola
  • Jenna Szczesny is the Ramblers' leading scorer, amassing eight goals so far this season. Her total is second highest in the MVC. 
  • Loyola saw its three-game winning streak and four-game unbeaten run come to an end in a 3-2 overtime loss to Illinois State.
  • The Ramblers currently lead the MVC with a 3-1 conference record.
 
Series History

Evansville:
  • The Purple Aces hold the series advantage over Missouri State by a margin of 15-8-6.
  • Missouri State won the last meeting in 2017, 2-1, on the road with Prondzinski scoring the late goal to lift the Bears to victory.
Loyola:
  • The series between Loyola and Missouri State is tied up at three apiece, with the rivalry dating back to 2013.
  • Missouri State beat out the Ramblers 1-0 to advance to the MVC Championship last season. Eickelman was responsible for the go-ahead goal.
