No. 25 Soccer Bears Travel to Loyola

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State men's soccer team (7-0-4, 2-0-1 MVC) looks to keep the unbeaten streak alive with a trip up to Loyola on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m.

Know the Bears
  • The Bears are undefeated through 11 matches following Tuesday's draw with Tulsa. Missouri State is one of three teams in the NCAA Division I to remain unbeaten. Best start for the Bears since 1999, where the squad went undefeated through the regular season (20 matches).

  • Josh Dolling ranks among the best nationally offensively; in game-winning goals (4), goals per game (1.00), points per game (2.00) and in total goals (8).
  • MSU has scored 18 goals this season, already beating the goal total from a season ago. Nine different athletes have scored goals for the Bears this season, led by Dolling (8).
  • The Bears defense sits atop the MVC as they've held opponents to just seven goals through 11 matches with five shutouts on the season.
  • The Bears hold a .58 goals-against-average, ranking eighth in the nation in the category.
  • Michael Creek has been solid in goal holding up five shutouts and recording 35 saves so far in this season.
  • Ben Stroud collected Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 9) after him and the Bears defense held up a pair of 1-0 shutouts last week against Western Illinois and Bradley.
  • The latest NCAA RPI report for the 2018 season has the Bears listed at No. 50.

The Opponents
Loyola Ramblers
  • Goalkeeper Josh Lagudah has notched five shutouts this season, tying him with the Bears Michael Creek for the conference lead.
  • Loyola is unbeaten in Valley play and increased its MVC point total to five with a 0-0 draw with Valparaiso.
  • Loyola took down Xaiver 1-0 Tuesday night.

Missouri State holds a 5-3-2 overall record against Loyola. The two squads meet last year in Springfield and the Ramblers came out with the 2-1 win over the Bears. Last time the Bears played in Chicago was 10/22/16, when Loyola won the match 2-0.
