PITTSBURG, Kan. –
The Missouri State track and field team logged 14 top five placings, and four first place finishes at the Pittsburg State Invitational here on Saturday.
Breaking the school record in the weight throw, Brittany McPike
marked a new personal best by tossing an 18.10-meter mark on her second attempt of the meet. The previous long was set by Jelani Kelly in 2011 (17.69m).
has recorded three first place finishes this season in the weight throw and holds the fifth longest attempt in the Missouri Valley Conference this season.
In triple jump, MSU claimed the top two spots. Jamilah James
earned her third top place finish of the season, after reaching a distance of 12.10m. Daijha Heron
recorded a season best 12.07-meters to earn second place.
produced a victory in the 60-meter dash as she finished the finals in 7.60 seconds. Cave also ran the 200m dash in 24.64 seconds, earning second place.
In the unseeded mile the Bears took home three of the top five spots, led by Erica Wollmering
(5:08.45) who took home the crown. Jasmine Crawford
finished in third with a 5:11.26 mile while Jessica Allen
came in fourth with a 5:13.27 time. Allen also set a new PR in the 5000m (16:59.64) where she finished third.
, in the seeded mile completed the race in 5:04.83 to receive fourth place.
Missouri State will take the next step in the indoor season next weekend at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational (Feb 2-3) in Lincoln, Neb.
