Track and Field Set to Open the New Year at Arkansas

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State track and field team will continue the 2017-18 indoor slate at the Arkansas Invitational, hosted by the University of Arkansas, on Friday Jan. 12. The Bears will start on the high jump at 1 p.m., while events on the track are scheduled to start at 3:15 p.m.Â

Keeping Track of the Bears
- For the fourth time in five years the Bears are competing at the Arkansas Invitational. In 2016 at the event, sprinter Marissa Kurtimah tallied the fastest indoor 60-meter dash in MSU history (7.48).
- The Bears have competed in two events so far this season racking up six individual first place finishes.
- Jamilah James has earned two top placings this season with a 12.31m leap in the triple jump, which is the ninth longest mark in the country.
- The Bears will send 27 student-athletes to Randal Tyson Track Center and will compete in distance events for the first time this season.
- Director of track and field and cross country, Ronald Boyce, enters his 22nd season at the helm. MSU enters this season picked fifth the Missouri Valley Conference pre-season poll.
