Priestley Designated as MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS -- Missouri State's Liam Priestley was honored Wednesday as the Missouri Valley Conference Enterprise Bank Scholar-Athlete of the Week.

Priestley owns a 3.52 cumulative grade point average in Finance. The senior goalkeeper, recorded his third shutout of the year against Oral Roberts Saturday night. He tallied five saves against ORU and kept the Golden Eagles scoreless. The visitors got off nine shots with none finding the back of the net.

In the MVC opener against Central Arkansas, Priestley recorded four saves in the double overtime victory. He gave up one goal in the first half, but kept UCA scoreless the rest of the game to give the Bears a league road win. Priestley has only allowed four goals all season though six matches and currently paces the MVC in goals against average (.624) and save percentage (.862).

To qualify for MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative GPA of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing. Redshirt freshmen and first-year junior college transfers are not eligible. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period.
