Springfield, Mo. – The Missouri State men's soccer team took control of the game early with two goals against Tulsa to claim its first win of the season. The Bears victory over the Golden Hurricanes broke an eight game losing streak to Tulsa that dates back to 2004.
In the season's home opener, juniors Harry Lewis and Jordy Robins recorded the first and second goals of the year for the Bears.
Lewis' goal was a sliding kick at the 13:51 mark, thanks to an assist from sophomore Stuart Wilkin. Lewis ran down the left side of the field to make the goal and set the pace for the Bears. Robin's goal came at the 17:26 mark where he scored a header from just outside the goalies box. The assist came off of senior Jake Buckle's throw in that carried the momentum in for the score.
Three other Bears got off shots Friday night, with seven total as a team and three aimed at goal. The Bears defense led by goalkeeper senior Liam Priestley recorded the shutout. MSU held Tulsa to only two shots during the game.

The Bears will travel to Birmingham, Ala. on Monday, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. against UAB. The game will be played at BBVA Compass Field.
