MVC Release

ST. LOUIS
– Earning the Missouri State women's soccer team's first weekly award of the 2017 season, freshman goalkeeper Kaitlin Maxwell was selected as the Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week, Monday afternoon.

Maxwell served as a brick house for the Bears once again, starting both matches against the Central Arkansas Bears and Little Rock Trojans this weekend. The newcomer picked up her first collegiate win, which was also her first shutout, Friday at Central Arkansas and eclipsed her previous single-game saves record with seven stops on the evening.

She tallied five more saves against the Trojans on Sunday for a total of 12 over the weekend. With 21 total saves, Maxwell ranks third in the league while maintaining a .778 save percentage. Maxwell is the only Missouri State keeper to play on the pitch so far this season, totaling 360 minutes in goal.

The Bears return to Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium this week for a pair of in-state matches against Southeast Missouri State (9/1) and Saint Louis (9/3). Both contests will be broadcasted on ESPN3 and live stats, as well as live updates, will be available.
