Monday's Results
The Missouri State men's golf team sits in fifth place, but just nine shots from the lead, after the first day of the ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate in Jonesboro, Ark. The Bears shot 296-302--598 on Monday (Apr. 3) at RidgePointe Country Club and has a pair of players in the top 10.
Host Arkansas State, fielding two teams in its own tournament, holds down the top two spots in the standings after 36 holes. The Red Wolves first team posted 295-294-589, while their "B" team had 299-291--590, and UT Martin shot 297-295--592 to claim third place after the first day. SIU Edwardsville is fourth with 597, a stroke ahead of the Bears, with Murray State (601), South Dakota (604), Florida Atlantic (606), Omaha (617) and Northern Iowa (620) rounding out the top 10 in the 16-team field.
Sophomore
Jack Knoesel paced MSU and is tied for fourth overall after carding 70-76--146, while sophomore
Brad Carpenter is ninth after shooting 74-73--147. Sophomore
Adam Fisher tallied 76-75--151 and is tied for 19th, with
Kory Franks tied for 35th with 76-78--154 and
Lukas McCalla tied for 70th at 84-78--162. Murray State's Matt Zakutney leads in the medalist race after firing 73-68--141.
Tuesday's final round is scheduled for an 8:30 a.m. start.
