Kurtimah Collects MVC Female Track Athlete of the Week Honors

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Missouri State junior Marissa Kurtimah was named Missouri Valley Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday (April 18). This marks Kurtimah's first outdoor season honor of the year and her third for the 2016-17 season, collecting indoor honors on Dec. 6 and Jan. 24.

At the Tom Botts Invitational, in Columbia, Mo., Kurtimah posted three top Missouri Valley Conference season times on Saturday (April 15). The sprinter collected a season-best and MVC-leading time of 11.55 in 100-meter dash for a first-place finish.

She also tallied a league-leading and second-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.71, just three hundredths of a second out of top spot.

The junior sprinter helped the Bears to a time 45.85 in the 4x100-meter relay, the third-best time in the MVC.

Kurtimah and the Bears are back in action this weekend when they head to Norman, Okla., for the John Jacobs Invitational on Friday and Saturday (April 21-22).
