Liam Priestley and sophomore
Kyle Hiebert represent the Missouri State men's soccer team on the 2017 Academic All-America third team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday (Dec. 7).
Priestley and Hiebert mark the first men's soccer players to earn spots on the CoSIDA Academic All-America team since 2011.
Starting every game in goal this season and earning MVC Goalkeeper of the Year honors, Priestley marked 11 shutouts this season tying the single season program record and completed his career in the net with 25, ranking second all-time in MSU career shutouts history. He also owns the second lowest career goals against average in Bears history (0.84). Off the field, Priestley holds a 3.52 cumulative GPA in finance.
Hiebert made starts in all 17 matches for the Bears. The La Salle, Manitoba, Canada native netted in his first career goal against Valparaiso (10/24). He has been a consistent force for the Bears on the defensive side of the pitch, helping the squad to one of its best defensive seasons in history. The Bears' defense gave up only nine goals all season and holds the fourth lowest goals against average in the nation (.510). The sophomore has maintained a 4.0 cumulative GPA in accounting.
