Soccer Bears Set to Face Loyola on Senior Night

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State men's soccer team will honor five seniors before their final home regular-season match, as a part of MSU Homecoming festivities, they take on Loyola, Saturday at 7 p.m. in Missouri Valley Conference play.

Know the Bears
  • The Bears will honor five seniors Saturday night before the match. Nick Burtenshaw, Liam Priestley, Scott Midgley, Jordy Robins and David Stoll will be respected before their final match at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium.
  • MSU has secured a bye into the semifinals of the upcoming MVC Tournament in Peoria and will open play on Friday, No. 10. The Bears can secure the top seed with a win over Loyola or Drake or a Central Arkansas loss on Saturday.
  • The Bears 'bend, but don't break' defense has given up 134 shots through 13 games, but only given up six goals. MSU's goals against average is the lowest in the Missouri Valley and third lowest in the NCAA (.446).
  • The Missouri State men's soccer team completed the season sweep over Valparaiso Tuesday evening, returning to its winning ways with a 2-0 win over the Crusaders. The shutout marked the ninth this season ranking the Bears second nationally in shutout percentage (.692).
  • Senior goalkeeper Liam Priestley has held up nine shutouts this season marking 23 shutouts in his career, which ranks him tied second overall in Missouri State history. Priestley ranks top five nationally in shutouts (9) and goals against average (.446).
  • Junior Conor Ingram has netted goals in seven of the last 10 matches, helping the Bears to a 8-2 record during that time. Ingram is second in the conference and is tied for eighth in the nation in game-winning goals (4).
  • The Bears will close out the regular season on the road at Drake on Nov. 4 at 6 p.m.
 
The Opponent
Loyola Ramblers
  • Junior Grant Stoneman was named Missouri Valley Conference Defensive player of the Week for his play last week.
  • Elliot Collier paces the Ramblers in goals scored this season (4), he has also recorded four assists.
  • In three trips to Springfield, Loyola has never come away with a victory holding a 0-2-1 record against the Bears at home.
 
Series History
Loyola
Missouri State holds a 5-2-2 all-time series lead over Loyola. The two squads faced each other twice last season including in the MVC tournament semifinals where the Bears came out on top 2-1 in overtime to advance to the finals. The Bears look to deprive the Ramblers of their first road victory over the Bears in program history.
