Soccer Bears Head East to Evansville

SPRINGFIELD – Following a tough match against Drake, the Missouri State women's soccer team travels to Evansville on Saturday, Oct. 26 for a 3 p.m. matchup at Arad McCutchan Stadium against the Purple Aces.

Missouri State Quick Kicks
  • The Bears picked up their first draw of the season, holding the league-leading Drake Bulldogs scoreless through 110 minutes. The deadlock snapped an eight-match win streak for Drake as the Bears have been the only team in the league to hold off Drake this season.
  • Freshman goalkeeper Lexi Palacio had a career night Tuesday against the Bulldogs, bringing in a season-high 11 saves. Thanks to her performance, her 11 saves ties for second in the Valley and is the most saves recorded by any MSU goalkeeper this season.
  • Junior Brooke Prondzinski is just one goal shy of 10 career goals. She has netted three goals in each of her three years in a Missouri State uniform and has totaled 28 points as a Bear.
  • The MSU goalkeepers combine for 78 saves this season. Freshman Kaitlin Maxwell leads the defense with 41 saves while Lexi Palacio trails with 35. After Tuesday's match against Drake, Palacio now leads the pair with a .778 save percentage.
  • Prominent leaders for the Bears, both Mary Disidore and Brooke Zimmerman have made over 60 starts in their careers at Missouri State. Disidore, who will be playing in her 70th career match on Saturday, has started in 67 of 69 matches while Zimmerman has started 65 of 67 matches.
  • Missouri State is 1-1 on the road against Valley opponents this season. The Bears picked up their first conference win at Indiana State, where they edged out the Sycamores, 2-1. The Bears only loss was a 5-0 decision at Loyola on Oct. 1.
Scouting Evansville
  • Bringing up the rear in Valley action, Evansville sits last with a 5-10 overall record and 1-4 mark in league play. The Purple Aces' only MVC win is against Indiana State, where UE claimed the match, 2-1.
  • The Evansville offense combines for 18 goals and 47 points this season. Forwards Jayme-Lee Hunter and Montana Portenier lead the squad with four goals and 10 points apiece, followed by Mikayla Harvey who boasts three goals this season.
  • Goalkeeper Michaela Till has put in 1214 minutes in the Evansville goal, bringing in 59 saves to go along with a .678 save percentage. Till has tallied one shutout and has allowed 28 goals this season.
  • Head coach Krista McKendree is in the midst of her 10th season at the helm for the Purple Aces.
Series History
Evansville holds a 15-7-6 all-time series lead over Missouri State. The Bears' last victory came on Oct. 28, 2010 when MSU shut out the Purple Aces, 1-0. Since then, Evansville has claimed two games and the teams have tied on five separate occasions. Missouri State is 3-8-1 playing at Evansville.
