SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State women's soccer team returns to action at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium on Tuesday, Oct. 17, for a Missouri Valley Conference contest against the Drake Bulldogs at 6 p.m.
Missouri State Quick Kicks
- Two Bears have recorded a pair of game-winning goals this season. After MSU's victory over UNI, sophomore Ashley Coonfield's second goal of the season also marked her second game-winner. Brooke Zimmerman also has two deciding goals, boasting a total of three goals on the season.
- The MSU goalkeepers and defense have combined for a total of 67 saves this season. Freshman Kaitlin Maxwell leads the defense with 41 saves and a .719 save percentage while Lexi Palacio has tallied 24 saves on the season. The Bear defense has recorded two defensive saves in addition to Maxwell and Palacio.
- Missouri State has out-shot its opponents 205-198 this season. The Bears average 13.7 shots per game and are led by Brooke Zimmerman and Ashley Coonfield, who have each fired off 28 scoring attempts.
- Prominent leaders for the Bears, both Mary Disidore and Brooke Zimmerman have made over 60 starts in their careers at Missouri State. Disidore has seen the most action, starting in 66 of 68 matches while Zimmerman has started 64 of 66 matches.
- Junior Brooke Prondzinski is just one goal shy of 10 career goals. She has netted three goals in each of her three years in a Missouri State uniform and has totaled 28 points as a Bear.
- Missouri State is 1-1 at home against Valley opponents this season. The Bears dropped a last-minute, 1-0 decision to Valparaiso (9/24) and came back to defeat UNI 1-0 on Oct. 7.
Battling the Bulldogs
- Drake enters Tuesday's contest riding an eight-match winning streak while maintaining an 11-3-1 overall record. The Bulldogs are 4-0 in conference action and Drake is the only unbeaten team in Valley play.
- Rebecca Rodgers leads Drake's offensive efforts, as well as the MVC, with 12 goals and 26 points this season. The senior ranks ninth in the nation with five game-winning goals. Ten other Bulldogs have netted shots this season and the team combines for 27 goals and 82 points.
- Senior goalkeeper Haley Morris has seen the most time in the Drake goal, putting in 1197 minutes this season. The Clive, Iowa, native leads the Valley with 74 saves, a 5.29 saves per game and a .822 save percentage.
- The Bulldogs are led by Lindsey Horner, who is in her 10th season as head coach of the program.
Series History
Drake holds an 11-3-3 series lead over Missouri State and has claimed the last three meetings between the two teams. The last Missouri State victory was on Oct. 7, 2011 when the Bears shutout the Bulldogs, 1-0. Bethany Smith netted the game-winner in the 14
th minute of the match and the Bear defense held off Drake for the remainder of the match. The Bears hold a slim 3-2-2 overall home record over the Bulldogs.
