SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State women's soccer team (3-6-2, 0-1 MVC) will continue conference play and host the Loyola Ramblers (2-7-2, 0-0 MVC) at Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium on Sunday (Oct. 2) at 1 p.m.

Series History
Sunday's match-up between the Bears and the Ramblers will be just the fourth meeting in program history. Prior to Loyola joining the Missouri Valley Conference in 2013, the two clubs never faced each other. Missouri State is 2-1 all-time against Loyola, with the last meeting between the two programs resulting in a 3-0 victory by the Ramblers in Chicago, Ill. last season.
Quick Kicks
- The Bears will be hosting their 3rd Annual Youth Soccer Clinic (K-8 grade) following Sunday's match. The game and the clinic are free for all participants and will be conducted by MSU women's soccer assistant coach, Kirk Nelson, and the 2016 women's soccer team. The clinic will last approximately 30 minutes and there will be training for all positons. Those interested in participating are encouraged to bring their own soccer ball and register during the MSU game.
- Missouri State has opened the month of October with a victory four times in the last five seasons -- Drake (2011), UNI (2012), Loyola (2013), Indiana State (2014). Missouri State has faced Loyola in the opening match of October in two of the last three seasons.
- Freshman Ashley Coonfield tallied her third goal of the season in Missouri State's 2-1 overtime loss to Western Illinois last Sunday (Sept. 25). The goal by Coonfield is the most of any Bear this season and she leads all freshmen with five shots. Five other freshmen have recorded at least one shot this season, contributing to MSU's 77 total shots.
- MSU goalkeeper, Evan Stamp, is currently third in the league in saves (55) and second in the MVC in saves per game (5). Stamp has made eight or more saves in a single match on three occasions this year -- Oral Roberts (9), Central Arkansas (9) and SEMO (8).
Scouting the Opponent
Sunday's match will be the first conference game for Loyola in 2016. The Ramblers opened their season with a double-overtime scoreless draw at Green Bay and went on to lose its next three matches against Fordham (1-0), Arizona State (4-0) and Valparaiso (3-2). Loyola scored its third goal of the season in a 1-1 draw at Eastern Michigan before dropping their next three matches to Western Michigan (2-1), Wisconsin (2-0) and CSUN (2-0). The Ramblers captured their first victory of the season against Cal Poly (2-1) and is 1-1 since then, falling to DePaul (4-1) and conquering Chicago State (7-0).
