EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Led by individual frontrunner
Jack Knoesel, the Missouri State men's golf team has jumped out to a three stroke lead through two rounds at the SIUE Derek Dolenc Intercollegiate, presented by Doubletree Hotels here Monday.

Knoesel, a sophomore from Columbia, Mo., leads the individual field of 87 players by a four-stroke margin after firing rounds of 66 and 68 on the par-71 course Monday. His first-round score ranks among the top-10 rounds in program history, while his 36-hole performance sits eight strokes under par and four strokes ahead of South Dakota's Scott Fudenberg who sits in second place. Knoesel also tallied 15 pars on the day, while averaging 3.67 strokes on par-four holes – tops in the field.

As a team, the Bears carded identical rounds of 290 on Monday to push three strokes ahead of host SIU Edwardsville and Murray State by a 580 to 583 margin. South Dakota (586), Bradley (587) and Omaha (587) round out the top five teams in the field of 15.

The Bears also got support Monday from sophomore
Adam Fisher who had rounds of 74-71—145 to move into a tie for 15
th place with a three-over performance.
Kory Franks (148) posted identical rounds of 74 to move into 27
th place after 36 holes, six over par, while freshman Lucas McCalla also had a pair of 70 scores (76-77—153) to sit in 46
th place.

The tournament on the 7,092-yard Gateway National course concludes Tuesday with 18 holes of play.
