SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State men's soccer team (2-2-1) continues its homestand on Tuesday (Sept. 20) when in-state rival UMKC (1-4) visits Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Series History
Missouri State has only lost once to UMKC at home (11-1-1), holding the all-time record of 17-4-2 against the Roos. The lone loss was in 1995, when the Bears fell 2-0 at Cooper Sports Complex. - Tuesday night's match has been tabbed a "Beach Night" that features a pregame cookout, hosted by Missouri State's swimming and diving teams and coaches, for the first 500 students through the gate and a pregame concert by local recording artists Luna Jamboree. The match will be the second production of men's soccer at MSU featured on The Valley On ESPN3.
- Emmerich Hoegg scored his first goal of the season, and 14th goal of his career, in Missouri State's 1-1 draw with Oral Roberts on Saturday (Sept. 17). The senior fired three shots in less than four minutes, putting pressure on ORU's keeper to start the game. One minute and six seconds into the second half, Hoegg headed in his first goal of the season. He is the first Bear to take five shots or more in a single match this season.
- Missouri State is second in the Missouri Valley Conference in goals allowed (4) behind the undefeated Loyola Ramblers (2). MSU goalkeeper, Liam Priestley, currently has a goals against average of 0.76 while tallying two shutouts on the season.
- There are currently 28 student-athletes in the Valley with one assist on the season, including MSU's Stuart Wilkin. The freshman tallied his first assist of the season in Saturday's match against ORU, as well as three of his four shots on the season. Sophomore Jake Buckle is the only other Bear with assists (2) and is currently ranked sixth in the league in the category.
Scouting the Opponent
The UMKC Roos are 1-4 on the season after opening 2016 with a 3-0 loss at Tulsa. The Roos captured their only win of the season in their only home match so far against Milwaukee (2-1). UMKC arrives in Springfield on a three-game losing streak after dropping matches at Drake (2-0), No. 14 Creighton (3-0) and Western Illinois (4-1).
