Women’s Soccer Set for Pair of Matches in Tulsa

SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State women's soccer team (0-2-1) will play its third and fourth matches on the road this season with trips to Tulsa on Friday (Sept. 2) and Oral Roberts on Sunday (Sept. 4).

Series History
Missouri State is 5-11-2 all-time against Tulsa, with the last victory over the Golden Hurricane coming in 2008 with a 1-0 decision in Springfield. Since 2011, the two programs have gone to at least one overtime on four different occasions.
 
The Bears are 9-7-4 all-time against Oral Roberts and 2-1-2 in the last five seasons. The most recent win at ORU came in 2012 when the Bears topped the Golden Eagles, 3-1. Molly Brewer assisted on two of MSU's three goals.
 
Quick Kicks
  • This weekend's games will be the third and fourth road trip of the season for Missouri State, only playing one match at home this season. The Bears are 0-1-1 on the road after dropping the season opener at No. 19 Texas Tech (1-0) and playing to a scoreless draw at UMKC that ended in the 74th minute due to weather.
  • A trio of Bears (Molly Brewer, Brooke Prondzinski and Kayleigh Putnam) have registered two shots apiece in three games. Missouri State is still searching for its first win and first goal of the season.
  • MSU goalkeeper Evan Stamp has allowed just three goals at this point in the season and has a 1.24 goals against average. Stamp ranks fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference in saves (15) and goals against average while ranking second in save percentage (.833) after averaging five saves a game. Tulsa's keeper, Ryliegh Bohnenstiehl, has given up five goals on the season while ORU's Rebecca Defer and Courtney McKeon have combined for eight goals allowed.
 
Scouting the Opponents
Tulsa is 1-2-1 on the season after opening the season with a tie against Loyola Marymount (0-0) and falling to South Carolina (4-1) before winning their first game of the season at Central Arkansas (2-1). The Golden Hurricane are on a one-game losing streak after dropping their last match, 2-0, at Texas A&M. The game between MSU and Tulsa start a six-game homestand
 
The Golden Eagles are sitting at .500 with a record of 2-2. ORU began the season at home with a win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff (3-0) and loss to North Texas (1-0) before hitting the road and registering a win at Abilene Christian (1-0) and a loss at Oklahoma State (4-1). ORU will play Houston Baptist on Friday (Sept. 2) before playing Missouri State on Sunday (Sept. 4).
