SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State women's soccer team (0-2-1) fell to Little Rock (1-2-0) after two second-half goals by the Trojans in the 2016 home opener at Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium Friday (Aug. 26).
Within the first five minutes, MSU's
Brooke Prondzinski made a move on her defender and put up a shot on the goal to get the offense rolling for the Bears. Two minutes later, teammate
Molly Brewer put up a shot of her own that went just high of the crossbar to keep the momentum going.
The Trojans went on to put up five shots in the first half and 10 more in the second half.
Ashley Tallerine took the first shot in the second half for the Bears from roughly 25 yards out, sending the ball just high of the goal. Freshmen
Ashley Coonfield,
Olina Einarsdottir and
Kayleigh Putnam also contributed in MSU's shot count.
The Bears will travel to Tulsa, Okla. to compete in the Tulsa Tournament where they will face the tournament host Golden Hurricane on Friday (Sept. 2) and Oral Roberts (Sept. 4) before returning home for a four-game home stand beginning Sept. 9.
