SPRINGFIELD – The Missouri State men's soccer program begins its 35th season when the Bears host Green Bay on Friday (Aug. 26) at 8:30 p.m. The match will be the second one at Allison South Stadium featured on The Valley On ESPN3.

"We are excited that many of our games will be broadcasted with the high quality that The Valley On ESPN3 brings," commented head coach Jon Leamy. "This will further allow our ever-growing group of supporters to watch and stay connected with the team no matter where they are."

This will be the sixth meeting in MSU program history between the Bears and the Phoenix. The series between the two clubs is tied at 2-2-1, with the most recent meeting resulting in a double overtime scoreless draw at the Dayton Tournament in 2012.

The 2016 Bears feature a diverse roster with eight student-athletes set to play their final season and 10 newcomers. All-Missouri Valley Conference honoree and NSCAA All-West Region third team member from a season ago, Jack Griffin, was named to the preseason all-conference team. The senior played in all 17 matches for the Bears last season and registered two goals, including the game-winning goal against SIUE with two seconds left in overtime.

Returners, and 2015 All-Freshman team members, Jake Buckle and Conor Ingram, are expected to play key roles on the MSU squad this season. Buckle led the Bears in shots taken (25) while finishing second on the team in points (7) and goals (3) last season. Two of his goals came in MSU's 2-1 victory over No. 18 Loyola Marymount at the N.M. Tournament. Ingram finished right behind Buckle in shots (19) and goals (2). During the preseason, Ingram scored three goals of the Bears' nine goals in three matches.

Admission for the match is free for MSU students with a valid I.D. and children ages 12 and under. Admission for MSU faculty and staff is $2 and tickets for all other adults are $5.

On Sunday (Aug. 28), Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium will serve as a neutral site as Green Bay will take on Central Arkansas at 2 p.m. Admission is free to fans for this event.
