DALLAS, Texas - Bob Sitton Final Results
The Missouri State men's golf team posted its best round of the tournament to finish 10th at the Bob Sitton Invitational here Thursday (Mar. 17). The Bears shot 294 to go with 308-296 the first two days for an 898 total in three trips around the par 71, 6815-yard layout at TPC Four Seasons.
Long Beach State went wire-to-wire to claim the team championship with 867, well ahead of runnerup Stephen F. Austin and its 878. Central Arkansas (884), Wyoming (887) and Oral Roberts (890) rounded out the top five.
Senior Mitch Mather and freshman Adam Fisher each posted 72 in the final round to lead MSU, while senior Joey Johnson had 74. Johnson was low for the tournament for the Bears, tying for 24th with 74-75-74--223. Mather and Fisher tied for 33rd with 225 totals; Mather shot 78-75-72, while Fisher had 80-73-72. Sophomore John Fuchs tied for 59th after carding 76-80-76--232 and freshman Kory Franks was 63rd with 80-73-80--233.
The Bears will be back in action Monday-Tuesday (Mar. 21-22), hosting the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate in Springfield. The nine-team field will tee off at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Twin Oaks Country Club.
