MSU Track Picked to Finish Fifth at Conference Championships

LOUIS, Mo. - Ronald Boyce's Missouri State University track and field squad has been chosen to finish fifth at the 2016 MVC Indoor Track and Field Championships in a poll by league coaches, the conference office announced Wednesday. The meet will take place Feb. 27-28 in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Preseason favorite Wichita State collected eight of nine first-place votes, tallying 80 total points. The 2015 women's indoor champions, Indiana State, took second place with 73 points while Illinois State was chosen third with 59 points.

Missouri State finished a tight race for the fourth and fifth-place spot in the poll with 48 total points behind Southern Illinois (49). Northern Iowa (39), Drake (29), Bradley (19), and Loyola (9) rounded out the rest of the results on the women's side.

"We are really excited for this year's championship," commented Boyce. "The atmosphere is great and the UNI Dome is the ideal place to host this meet. Fans get the opportunity to see the entire meet from the stands and it is a fun meet to be at with heightened competition."

The two-day championship will be carried on The Valley On ESPN3 and will be available through the WatchESPN app. Saturday's stream will begin at 6:15 p.m. (http://es.pn/1otb0pL) and Sunday's will be available at 1 p.m. (http://es.pn/20JPxVZ).
