Trio of Soccer Bears Earn National Recognition

2016 NSCAA All-West Region Teams

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Three Missouri State men's soccer players received postseason honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), as announced by the association on Tuesday (Dec. 6). Emmerich Hoegg was named to the All-West Region second team, while Robbie Oslica joined teammate Jack Griffin on the third team.

An all-time program leader in game-winning goals at MSU, Hoegg receives his first national recognition after finishing a standout season in 2016. The senior finished the season with a team-leading five goals, including the game-winner against No. 13/15 Loyola to advance the Bears to the 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Men's Soccer Championship title match. Hoegg ends his career with 18 goals, six assists and 102 shots. He will add this accolade to his long list of honors that include two all-conference first team selections and an honorable mention, multiple MVC Offensive Player of the Week laurels and an MVC all-tournament team spot.

For the second-straight year, Griffin is named to the all-region third team for his leadership on the field. The two-time all-conference selection played in all but one match for the Bears in 2016. Griffin netted his first goal of the season, and fifth of his career, in MSU's final non-conference match at Oral Roberts. The senior will be attending the 2016 Midwest Pro Soccer Combine, Dec. 19-20 in Pontiac, Mich., in hopes of keeping his professional soccer dreams alive.

Oslica joins the list of elite men's soccer players for his first national postseason accolade. The defender was the only Bear to start all 20 matches in 2016. The junior was also the only member of MSU's backfield to register a goal for the Bears, finishing the season second on the team with three goals. Oslica is a two-time all-tournament team selection, a 2016 All-MVC second team member and was named to the 2014 all-freshman team.

This marks the fourth-straight season that Missouri State has had representation on an all-region team and the first time the Bears have had more than two honorees in a single season.
