Missouri State begins its 25th Missouri Valley Conference season Friday evening with a 7 p.m. contest against UNI (7-4) at JQH Arena.
The Lady Bears have won at least a share of the regular-season MVC title nine times in their 24 seasons in the league, and are 15-9 all-time in MVC openers.
Missouri State enters the MVC season with a 4-7 record against one of the nation's toughest non-conference schedules, and continue the trend by opening against the league's top two teams in the preseason poll as favorite Drake (7-4) visits Springfield for a 2 p.m. contest on New Year's Day.
Friday's game is a rematch of last season's MVC Tournament title game, won by the Lady Bears, 71-58.
Missouri State wraps up its six-game home stand Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. against Wichita State.

Series Histories
Missouri State owns a 49-25 lead in the series with UNI, though the Panthers are 6-4 in the last 10 meetings. MSU holds a 29-7 lead in Springfield, losing 65-60 last season before rebounding to beat UNI in Cedar Falls and in the MVC Tournament title game.
