Twin Oaks, MSU Open New Golf Facility in Style

Missouri State University and Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield marked the grand opening of their new shared indoor golf practice facility in style Monday night (Nov. 7). The celebration of the grand opening began with a an overflow crowd at a reception in the new cart storage facility for the Club, followed by a lineup of speakers that included University President Clif Smart and Club President Andy Fischer.

Festivities concluded with a formal ribbon-cutting by Bobby Allison, whose generous donation made the facility possible, a tour of the new state-of-the-art indoor training and practice facility that will serve the Bears and Twin Oaks year-round, and fireworks.

The event officially opened the doors to the new training/practice facility, pro shop with retail area, and golf cart and member bag storage—all of which is staged around a waterfall feature. The facility includes four hitting bays, putting green, team lounge, coaches' offices and storage for the MSU men's and women's programs. The hitting bays will be able to operate as indoor stations or as extensions of the award-winning Twin Oaks driving range that incorporates artificial turf greens. Twin Oaks is located at 1020 E. Republic Road in Springfield.

The Twin Oaks Board of Directors and the MSU Board of Governors formally approved a 15-year partnership and lease agreement this past summer which provides MSU's golf teams with use of the indoor facility along with the course and outdoor practice facilities.
