The Missouri State Lady Bears (1-1) continue their season-opening road swing Wednesday at 7 p.m. when they visit Northwestern (2-0) in the first of two trips to the Chicagoland area this season.
   MSU plays its first five games away from home this year, with a trip to the Great Alaska Shootout (Nov. 22-23) following the Northwestern game. The home opener is Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. against Little Rock at JQH Arena.
   The Lady Bears earned their first win of the season Sunday with a 87-64 triumph over Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse.
   Missouri State brings several notable trends into the NU game, including a 15-5 record in its last 20 true road games, a 12-1 mark in that last 13 games in the state of Illinois, and a 3-1 record on the road against Power Five opponents since the beginning of last season.
Series History
MSU and Northwestern have split their two previous meetings, with the Lady Bears winning 73-70 in Springfield in 1997, and the Wildcats earning an 84-76 victory in Puerto Rico in 1995.
Scouting Northwestern
Northwestern is 2-0 with wins against Hampton and Oral Roberts. The Wildcats lead the nation with 23 blocked shots, helping the defense allow 51.5 points per game on 30 percent shooting. Nia Coffey averages 17 points and 13 rebounds for NU, while Ashley Deary is one of the nation's active leaders in career steals. As a team, the Wildcats score 65.5 points per game, own a plus-10 rebounding margin, and shoot 41.3 percent overall, 33.3 percent from beyond the arc and 76.9 percent from the foul line.
