Quick Kicks
- The Bears are searching for their first league points on Sunday at Illinois State. Each team is awarded three points for a win, one point for a tie and zero points for a loss. Evansville is currently sitting in first with six points, while four teams – Illinois State, Indiana State, Loyola and UNI – follow closely behind with three points.
- Missouri State's Mary Disidore tallied three shots in a single match for the second time last Sunday in MSU's 2-0 loss to Loyola. Two of her three shots came within three minutes of each other, sending the ball just wide of the goal both times. The junior surpassed her shot total from last season (10), and leads the team in the category with 14 on the season so far.
- Besides goalkeeper, Evan Stamp, senior Millie Kingsbury was the only Bear to play the entirety of MSU's match against Loyola last Sunday. Kingsbury and company helped keep Loyola out of the home-half of the pitch in the second half, limiting the Ramblers to just a single shot while the Bears fired nine.
- Brooke Zimmerman's game-winning goal against Illinois State last season was her second of the season and fourth of her career. Zimmerman has tacked on two more in 2016 to give her six on her career at MSU, which is tied for the third-most in program history. The junior needs three more game-winning goals to be tied for the second-most in school history and five to become the all-time leader in the category.
Scouting the Opponent
The Illinois State Redbirds enter Sunday's match with an overall record of 7-5-1, and are undefeated in league play after securing a 4-0 victory over Indiana State. Illinois State won its first game, 4-0, over Eastern Illinois and went 3-2 over the next five matches. The Redbirds have won their last three matches against Indiana State (4-0), IUPUI (4-1) and Chicago State (10-0).
