Final Results
The Missouri State women's golf team entered Tuesday's (Oct. 4) final round of the Missouri Valley Conference Preview in 10th and place and that's where it finished the day. The Bears shot 310-311-309--930 and stayed steady in the 14-team field at the Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Non-MVC member Murray State captured the team title with an 871 total for 54 holes, while UMKC (884) was second and Wichita State third (897). Arkansas State took fourth place (902), followed by Southern Illinois (902), Bradley (909), Austin Peay (915), Indiana State (927), Illinois State (928) and the Bears rounding out the top 10. Drake (952) finished 11th, followed by Evansville (965), Loyola (971) and UNI (984).
For the third consecutive tournament, sophomore
Rachel Johnson led MSU, posting a consistent 75-77-75--227 and a tie for 18th place. Junior
Verena Gimmy was next, tied for 28th with 77-78-75--230, followed by
Ashley Childers in a tie for 32nd with 73-81-77--231, and K
Lindsey Eisenreich, who shot 85-75-82--242 and tied for 60th. Freshman
Ryan Pate carded 81-88-82--251 and
Caroline Boone, playing as an individual, shot 83-75 after being disqualified in the first round for signing an incorrect scorecard.
The Bears are idle next week, but are back in action Oct. 17-18 at the Memphis Fall Intercollegiate.
