SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State women's soccer student-athlete,
Molly Brewer, was named to the Capital One Academic All-District VI first team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday (Oct. 27). The honor is the second of its kind for the senior in her career.
Brewer has played in 67 matches in her time in the Maroon and White, cracking the starting eleven in all but seven of those matches. She became the sixth player in women's soccer program history to register 16 career goals after she scored the game-winner against Indiana State this year. Brewer has 15 career assists, the second most in MSU school history, and is seventh all-time in career shots with 124. The senior graduated in the spring of 2016 with a 4.0 grade point average in general business and is currently working towards her MBA.
To qualify for the Capital One Academic All-District team, a nominee must hold a cumulative 3.30 grade point average, must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games.
Missouri State will close out the regular season tonight against the Evansville Purple Aces at Betty and Bobby Allison South Stadium. Brewer, and six of her senior teammates, will be recognized prior to the match for their contributions to the women's soccer program. A win over Evansville by the Bears would grant them a spot in the 2016 MVC Women's Soccer Championship.
