Quick Kicks
- The match between the Bears and the Bulldogs will be just the second match MSU has played on a Saturday this season. Missouri State hosted Indiana State last Saturday (Oct. 15), topping the Sycamores, 3-1.
- With two games remaining in the regular season, the Beas are currently tied for fifth in the league standings with Indiana State, with an MVC record of 1-2-1 and four points. An Indiana State loss or draw, and an MSU win at Drake, would move the Bears solely into fifth place in the conference.
- MSU goalkeeper, Evan Stamp, collected the league's keeper of the week award for the second-consecutive week, and third time this season, the league office announced Tuesday (Oct. 18). Stamp allowed just a single goal and collected her third clean sheet of the season with MSU's 3-1 victory over Indiana State and 2-0 shutout over Kansas State. The junior combined for seven saves over the two matches and ranks second in the league in save percentage, averaging 5.20 saves per match.
- Sophomore Brooke Prondzinski scored twice in MSU's 3-1 victory over Indiana State, giving the Bears their first Valley win of the season. The last time a Bear scored twice in a match was when Prondzinkski's brace propelled the Bears over Western Illinois in 2015. Molly Brewer had the game-winning goal for MSU in the 29th minute of the match on Saturday. Both Brewer and Prondzinski have three goals and an assist on the season. The three goals scored by the Bears in the match against Indiana State is the most they have scored against an opponent this season.
- Missouri State freshman, Ashley Coonfield, scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season in MSU's 2-0 shutout victory against Kansas State on Monday. The newcomer leads the team in points (10) with four goals and two assists on the year. She is the only freshman to score a goal for the Bears this season.
Scouting the Opponent
The Drake Bulldogs enter Saturday's match with an overall record of 10-4-2 and are searching for its first conference victory, posting a league record of 0-3-1. The Bulldogs opened the season with a record of 8-1-1 through their first 10 games, including victories at home against South Dakota (1-0), Milwaukee (2-1) and Western Illinois (2-0). Drake dropped its first two conference matches against Evansville (1-0) and Indiana State (3-2), before topping non-conference opponent Kansas State, 1-0. Most recently, the Bulldogs posted a 1-0 win over Iowa State in their final non-conference match of the season.
